Close by there is the Historic Port of Leith, it is the final resting place of the decommissioned Royal yacht Britannia, it has been restored to its former glory and is now open to the public, (£6.50) entrance, it gives you an incite of how the Royal Family travelled in style. Close by is Newhaven Harbour with its Fisherman's Museum, it is full of interesting photographs and relics of days gone by. The Peacock Inn is a restaurant in Newhaven that has a big menu, big helpings and at a reasonable price, it is well worth a visit. Within walking distance, there is The Royal Botanical Gardens, they have many flowers and exotic plants from all corners of the world.
There are many things to see and do in the Old Town. There are 24 existing Visitor Attractions; a further two educational and visitor attractions are being planned. The Dynamic Earth, The Museum of Scotland, The Science Centre and The Festival Centre. Many visitors enjoy walking around this historic core exploring the many closes that thread their way through the Town. |
